she gets very excited when we help her into a sitting position, and she's getting better at balancing. we like to practice with her on the bed so she can tip over and not get hurt...that way, she can still build the muscle tone and balance she needs, but isn't bonking her head on the ground all the time.
this morning, she was sitting for more than a minute at a time, which was by far the best she's done so far. it's fun to see little improvements in skills like this day by day. makes me really glad i'm at home with her, and makes me sad for the next kid that i won't be able to spend as much time doing stuff like this because i'll have charis to take care of as well. :)

she's also really digging her exersaucer (insert shameless plug for evenflo products here).
and on a final note, for those of you who have had kids, how stinking amazing is it when you can make your baby smile and laugh???? oh, man. it's the best.

Wait until you can tickle her to get her to laugh. That's one of my favorite things to do with Malcolm. But I think he first really started laughing at the variations on the peekaboo game.
A child's laughter is incredible stress therapy.
Although there is less "total" focus on the 2nd one - the awesome thing is watching Liesl get soo excited over her sister's accomplishments and watching Liesl try to help Kiera sit up/walk/talk. It's also completely amazing to watch the two of them interact - it makes my heart melt...to watch Liesl make her sister laugh (& vice versa) is priceless. Note: Even though Kiera says 100s of words now...Liesl is the first to recognize the newest one and always exclaims "Mom, she just said her first word" and my response is "well - I don't think it's her first word but it's a new one!!". (FYI: Today's new words: tissue, napkin, elephant.)

if she wants to sit on the floor, stick your boppy around her - that way she can sit safely and it doesn't hurt to topple over :D
hm...hadn't thought of that...but we don't have a boppy anyway :) we have a "my brest friend" (worst named product ever), but it's already packed up with maternity clothes and other baby stuff. so we're out of luck there too.
for the record, the last picture of her in this post, in the exersaucer...she looks a LOT like me when i was her age.
I hear those seats that help infants sit up are good. We don't have one so I've never tried one though. You're a great photographer! You should definetly start a business. When you're back here I may schedule you to take our family and pics if you have time:) I'll pay :):) :) Finding a good photographer is hard to do around here. BTW, Charis is ADORABLE. She looks so happy too.
sharon, we borrowed a bumbo from ben & teresa, and she gets really mad in it because it's so confining...she'll sit in it long enough for us to eat dinner and that's about it :) but, oh, what a dinner!!
i'd love to shoot some of your family sometime! might be a good excuse for a visit! :)
