pediatrician and actual sleep.

ok, so we had our first peds appt yesterday. charis is back to her birth weight already! i guess she's a healthy eater! she also measured quite a bit shorter at 20 1/8 inches...definitely due to the lack of cone on her head now vs. just after she was born :)

the doctor said everything looks great and she has no jaundice at this point. we are going back next week to have her umbilical stump checked since it is just about ready to fall off.

we're slowly figuring each other out, this baby and us parents. we actually had a pretty great night last night...she slept 1 hour, then 2 hours, then 4 hours straight...all with feedings in between. that was pretty amazing. i think part of it for us, too, has been getting used to her little grunts and groans throughout the night. we're starting to learn her noises, so the superficial stuff doesn't wake us up like it used to.

i continue to feel a bit stronger each day, but it's clear that the whole blood loss thing really took it out of me. i have a follow up appt with my OB on thursday so they can check my progress.

other than that, we sleep when we can and enjoy her quiet awake times when we can. she tends to be up most of the morning in just a quiet alert state, and it's just fun to hold her and talk to her during those times. it seems like she is starting to learn our voices a bit more and respond with interest when we talk to her.

we're putting her in the moby wrap a bit each day to get her used to it...so far she seems to like it just fine. see for yourself:

so...other things of note. i can bend over! yay!!! what i mean by that, is i am no longer confined to the ridiculous squat/bend thing i had to do while pregnant. i feel much more like a normal person now that i can pick something up off the floor without bobbing up and down until i happen to snag it with my first two fingers. also, i can lay on my stomach. this is an amazing feeling. i forgot how wonderful it was.

derek's parents and youngest sister are coming to visit tomorrow to see charis for the first time...derek's mom has been dying to see her, so i'm glad it worked out for them to come this weekend.

for those of you who would like to stop in and see us (and have been so patiently waiting), i think i'm feeling well enough now for short visits. if you'd like to plan to stop by sometime, shoot us an email or give us a call at home and we'll figure out a good time for a visit.

the sound of silence.

hello, blogosphere! i have returned!

what a crazy, amazing, exhausting and sometimes scary week this has been. all 100% worth it. as i write this morning, my feet are slowly beginning to recede to their normal size...something i secretly feared would never happen. in general, i feel a bit better every day.

as i expected, the hardest thing (now that the pain has begun to subside) is the sleep deprivation. i don't handle lack of sleep well, but i do feel my body has handled it far better than i had expected. other than the rare 4-hour stretch, my sleep comes in about 1.5 to 2.5 hour increments. despite this, during the day, i don't feel all that bad. it's the nights that are getting to me.

this little girl certainly has her own schedule, which is fine...except her schedule hasn't been posted anywhere yet, and we're having a hard time following it since it's not in writing. it seems like she feeds almost constantly from 9-2 or so, then we get some rest until morning. you know it's bad when you celebrate an uninterrupted stint of 3 hours sleep :)

however. we are just so in love with her. from the moment she emerged, i've been just overcome with emotion for her...and it grows every day. i wouldn't say i'm completely attached to her just yet, but it won't be long until i can't imagine my life without her.

as for the birth...

from the posts that derek and teresa (our sister-in-law) have put up, it was a sketchy story...i know teresa didn't give a lot of details, and that was because she didn't want to pull focus from the bigger picture -- that our beautiful daughter was born healthy and happy. by the time derek started posting, much of what was going on with us had been bouncing around with phone calls between family members and some close friends, so i don't think he felt the need to go into detail. but now that i'm fairly well on the mend, i'll give you a little more on how things transpired.

as you all know, i was scheduled to go in at 8am on tuesday the 20th so that the dr could break my water. all this went as planned. he broke my bag around 8.45am at family beginnings, the natural birthing center. teresa was with us shortly thereafter (and stayed until shortly after charis was born). we enjoyed the atmosphere in the room there...spacious and homey. we put in some movies and had lunch...we took lots of walks and i spent some time on the birthing ball to try and move her down.

shortly after lunch, when things really hadn't begun progressing at all, they brought in a breast pump for me. for those who don't know, breastfeeding releases the hormone oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. (the drug pitocin, used to induce labor, is a synthetic form of oxytocin.) so i got hooked up to the pump. while it did cause some stronger contractions about 5 minutes apart, they went away as soon as i was off the pump.

the dr had said we could try to progress for about 8 hours after he broke my bag...that 8 hours went by pretty quickly. the dr came in and we agreed it was time to go to labor & delivery and start pitocin. our little girl just wasn't getting the hint. :)

once we transferred over there, it took a while for the orders for pitocin to get finalized, so i think the drip actually started somewhere around 6pm. there was a definite and immediate effect. our nurse, erin, increased the pitocin about every 20-30 minutes, depending on how the contractions were progressing. i began to despise erin and her pitocin-pushing ways. (for the record though, erin was amazing the whole time and we were so glad she was our nurse...she even came to the icu the next morning to visit us and see how we were doing)

the dr came in periodically to check on me, and we had some fun conversations about some of our friends who had birthed with him. on that paricular day, a friend of mine from work was checking in at the same time i was, also to be induced by our doctor. the doctor got in the habit of giving us updates on each other when he saw us. that same day, a friend from our birthing class had her follow-up appointment with him, as did another close friend of mine...both of whom asked about me since they knew i was going in that day. the dr made comments to me about my knowing everyone and thought it was even more hysterical when i told him about another friend who had had all 3 of her kids with him... his response was "how do you know HER????"

so anyway, back to the pitocin. there were definite levels of intensity and pain that evolved. it was gradual, but incremental, if that makes any sense. the whole time, derek and teresa were helping me stay relaxed through the contractions...massaging my feet, stroking my hair, and keeping the calm music playing. but when the contractions got bad, they got really bad.

i quit watching the clock, but the contractions were sometimes coming 3-4 at a time with no breaks...and they were crazy painful. sometimes i'd get a few minutes break, but it never seemed like near enough to recover. at this point, when erin checked me, i was still only 4cm dilated...and that was after almost 6 hours on pitocin, probably the last 2 of which had been just beyond excruciating. through every contraction during those excruciating 2 hours, i was thinking in my head "i want the epidural, i want the epidural...i can't handle this any more" then i'd get a short break and think maybe i could do it.

finally, the dr came back to check on me...i asked him if it would hurt more than it already did as things continued to progress. "yes." i asked him if it would hurt less if i got the epidural. "yes." so i made the decision that it was time for the epidural. erin (who had read our birth plan and knew we had wanted a natural birth) was great because she didn't make the call to the anesthesiologist until i told her explicitly, "i want the epidural." i had said "ok" several times after we discussed it, but she didn't do anything until i told her definitively that was what i wanted.

then i asked if there were good people to do it...erin reassured me that one of the best anesthesiologists was there that night..."i'm not just saying that," she said. "he really is one of our best." then i asked her how long until he got there..."well, if he's free, it could be 10 minutes...if he's doing another epidural or a c-section, it could be up to an hour" i didn't ask any more questions after that because i couldn't handle the idea of waiting another hour for relief.

thankfully, he was there pretty quickly. and then came probably the hardest part of the entire labor -- sitting perfectly still through those insane contractions, while he stuck a gargantuan needle into my spine. yeah. it's amazing sometimes what we can convince our bodies to do when there is no other choice.

after the epidural went in around 12.30am on the 21st, the contractions gradually relieved themselves over the next 15-20 minutes and i was actually able to get some rest. the next several hours were mainly filled with short bouts of sleep and the feeling of pressure from the baby's head moving down. erin checked me once in a while to see how i was progressing...6cm...then 2.5 hours later, 9cm...and not long thereafter, 10cm. it was time to push.

pushing apparently lasted about 2 hours, but it really didn't seem that long to me. maybe an hour, if i was pressed to tell. again, there was little or no pain, but the epidural was such that i could feel the pressure and know when to push.

and then she was born :)

they brought her up to me and i just bawled. derek and i looked at her and looked at each other, and i don't think i've ever felt more in love with him than i did in that moment. it was indescribable.

the dr delivered the placenta, and derek cut the cord. and then, i started to feel kind of wrong.

all of a sudden, i got really light headed, felt nauseous and just knew i was going to pass out. there was so much commotion in the room at that time, and i barely had the voice to speak to tell them that someone should take the baby from me.

i don't remember much about the next 5 hours, except a few more bouts of feeling i would pass out, and a lot of arguing among the nurses about what might be wrong with me. the next day, the dr would tell us that he did observe me losing a little more blood than normal, but not enough to make me that ill.

through blood tests before and after the birth, they learned that my hemoglobin levels had dropped from 11.7 to 7. they transfuse when you get to 6. i was stabilized and finally moved into the perinatal icu around 12.30 that day. i was on iv fluids and constant blood pressure monitoring, (and later was hooked to an ekg machine for constant monitoring of my pulse and heart rate) as my blood pressure had dropped at times to 57/29.

they watched me in icu for the next 24 hours, but the blood tests continued to come back more dismal than before. finally, when my hemoglobin came back at 5.4, i was given 2 units of blood. that was on thursday, and on friday morning, my hemoglobin was back up to 8. i was moved out of icu that afternoon and began feeling better.

saturday, we were discharged, and being at home has helped my spirits immensely.

throughout all of this, derek was just amazing...taking care of the baby because i couldn't, and taking amazing care of me as well. i know he was pretty freaked out after she was born because i had lost pretty much all color very quickly. he was not happy with the care i was receiving at that time, while they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me. but all worked out in the end.

our girl's birth was nothing like we had hoped. but derek and i feel confident that the decisions we made, the deviations from our plan, were the right choices. we feel we gave her every opportunity to come out on her own, and it just got to the point where her safety was at risk. i didn't want all those drugs, but looking back, i don't know how it could have gone any other way. our nurse, erin, did tell me later on that watching me labor with the pitocin that long, and how i handled it...she had no doubt that without the pitocin, i could have handled a natural birth with no problems. i told her thank you...even if you're lying, thank you. :)

my recovery continues...slowly, but definitely. a little more strength every day, a little less pain every day.

and this little girl grows on us more and more each day...despite all the sleep she steals from us :)

so thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. we certainly needed them. God's hand was most definitely upon us through the birth and the aftermath of my recovery. we've always known that Charis was a gift from God...now she's just even more precious.

finally home!

home at last

yesterday we all returned home safely around 2pm. charis seems to approve our taste in decor and has been enjoying gliding around the house. she had her first bath since she's been home due to an explosive diaper earlier today. "how'd poo get up there?" megan and i are trying to catch some shuteye when ever possible; a lot more that we were getting while at the hospital and feel much more rested as a result. however, i will say that i don't have the energy right now to upload the most recent pictures, but stay tuned, they'll come.

hemo'bloggin'

happy afternoon.

as you may or may not know from the previous post, megan had some seriously low hemoglobin levels after birth which were brought back up to much safer levels due to 2 units of blood. As you can see below, megan is looking and feeling much better. We moved from the Peranatal ICU to the postnatal room today... a smaller room but larger bathroom. charis will be discharged this evening and she will still remain in our care while we're at the hospital. the plan now is to discharge megan tomorrow.

until we speak again, we sleep.

have a look see

dad here...

have a look! absolutely perfect, perfect, perfect. charis is doing great and stays with us in the room all day long. she is very alert, is breastfeeding well, and sleeps soundly. i see great scholarly achievements in her future as she has passed her fist test, a hearing test, with A+'s. good job sweets!

mom is doing much better, she turns in her bed on her own but with much effort and is good spirits. she is receiving 2 units of blood today in response to very low blood pressure readings and low hemoglobin levels after the birth. she is in a good amount of pain but her skin color and energy level is improving by the hour. she has worked incredibly hard and her will and attitude never cease to amaze me.

take care all,

dad.

Welcoming the newest baby Rund!

Finally! Today at 6:52am after laboring since yesterday at 845am Megan and Derek welcomed their baby girl to the world. She held on to Megan for as long as she possibly could before she let Megan get her out. Charis Anne Marie was born at 7 lbs 14oz and 20 3/4 in. long. Megan did an amazing job the whole time. She was so focused and calm, and did everything she could to bring Charis into this world safely. She and Derek both succeeded with flying colors, and now they have a beautiful baby in their arms.

Because the labor was so hard, and exhausting, they are thinking they don't want phone calls and visits until they let you know things are going okay for them. They will begin updating the blog, email, etc. But for now, err on the side of caution and assume they are sleeping. They will surely appreciate your emails and prayers.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support through this difficult but joyful labor and delivery!

Teresa

PS. I may or may not have spelled Anne Marie correctly, so wait for the word from Megan and Derek before you do anything crazy like embroider her name on something special. (:

Baby Update

So, this update is coming from Teresa. Megan has been laboring since about 845 this morning when the doctor broke her water. She worked her body all day trying to get that little baby out. She walked, rolled on the ball, pumped to release hormones, everything she could. This little girl just needs a little more convincing. So, we just moved over to the normal labor and delivery and they are starting a low dose of pitocin. They'll increase as necessary, but hopefully it will just throw Megan right into labor. She has to have her by tomorrow at 8am, so we will look forward to sharing the news sometime soon.

When her doctor just came in he gave her a pep talk, and said that he's feeling very optimistic about the pitocin and labor, etc. He put her arm around her when she said, say something...give me a pep talk then said, "Megan, this baby is coming out."

Anyway, Megan's doing wonderfully and really sticking in there. Please keep her and Derek in your prayers on this long day of anticipation and hard work.

finally.

ok.

so even though the contractions quit on me sometime early this morning, they apparently did some good work. i measured 2-3 cm this afternoon. yay!

we had decided to ask the dr. to induce tuesday or wednesday...then found out he is on call tuesday, but not wednesday. so tuesday it would be.

after he measured me, we told him tuesday and he said "ok, i'll call family beginnings and we'll set you up for 8 tomorrow morning and i'll break your water"... !!! we had completely let go of the possibility of family beginnings because we were positive nothing would happen and we would have to use pitocin to induce. so we are THRILLED to have the chance.

the dr. will give us about 8 hours after breaking my water for progressive labor to set in. if not, then we will have to switch to regular l&d and have some pitocin. we are FINE with that, because it is far more of a chance than we expected. so hopefully, it will be enough to get things going and get this little girl out!

in any case, we should have her in our arms sometime tomorrow, or worst case, early wed morning.

we will post after the smoke clears to let everyone know her name and stats (aren't you all DYING to know her name???? )...we'll also post visiting information for locals who are interested.

your prayers are appreciated...and here's hoping we get some decent sleep tonight. :)

guess not.

so the contractions stayed 5 mins apart and fairly painful all night and woke me up a few times while i slept. but by the time i got up this morning, there was no trace of them.

off to the doctor we go this afternoon and we'll see what the plan is.....

Sunday, May 18, 2008

ummm...ouch?

so things are happening again today. different than before, stronger than before. still not to the point where we feel we need to go to the hospital. but we're watching and waiting...and hoping this little girl has finally made up her mind to join us out here. because we'd really rather it be her decision than ours :)

we'll try to post if we go to the hospital...

update @ 8pm: still having strong contractions, about 5 minutes apart since 2pm. not serious enough, though, to head to the hospital. we'll see what happens tonight...

41 weeks - ultrasound

ok, derek edited down our 15-minute ultrasound video for people to see. it's a little blown out, but hopefully you can see some of the fun parts...if you watch carefully in the first section, you can see her opening her mouth, swallowing, sticking out her tongue, sucking on her arm (her lips look black). in the section with the leg bone, you can see her making a fist with her hand on the right side of the screen. and the last clip is her feet and toes. man i want to tickle them!

enjoy!

update on the potbelly incident.

this is obviously not baby related, but i thought people might be curious what happened with the potbelly thing and the SPEAR that ended up in my tongue after my turkey sandwich on friday.

as i mentioned, the ER doc did a nice job getting it out. on tuesday as we were on the way out the door to the OB, a nice man from potbelly corporate called to follow up with me on the incident. i gave him all the details and he was noticeably unnerved when i told him i was 9.5 months pregnant... :) he said to take the "thorn" to the store so that they could send it to him. he also said that i would be contacted by their insurance company to figure out how to get them the ER bill. he agreed that from my description, it sounded like something that had come into the store from their suppliers, and not something that entered my sandwich thru employee negligence or safety issues. he said he would definitely be following up with his suppliers.

today we got a letter in the mail from the corporate guy thanking us for reporting the incident and enclosed were coupons for 3 free sandwiches.

the insurance guy called yesterday and we've been playing phone tag ever since.

in all, i've been kind of amazed at the attention i've been getting from them on this. they've been incredibly responsive and proactive...which, i guess they should be, but i'm still a little surprised by it.

for the curious out there, here's a pic of what was actually stuck in my tongue. about half of what you see was in my tongue, obviously the pointy end is what stuck me.

buying time.

so things went well today.

the ultrasound showed everything to be normal at this point. fluid levels are good.. heart rate, blood flow, etc are all good. we can see that our little girl has big cheeks for us to pinch :) and we saw her sucking on her arm and sticking her tongue out at us. we saw her little feet and toes. and confirmed that there are no boy parts (i had a horrible dream last night that she was born a boy, but because she was so late, she -- rather, he -- had facial hair).

then we headed up to see the doctor. i had printed out my cycle chart to show him that i had ovulated later than the pregnancy wheel assumes, and he was happy to adjust my due date for us. so he changed my official due date to may 8, which means that as of today i am only 1 week late. this gives us 4 more days for family beginnings, and that is fabulous. he really doesn't want me to go beyond 42 weeks, so if she doesn't come on her own before hand, we will be inducing on thursday, may 22. baby girl gets one more week and then she's getting evicted.

derek and i both felt very good about the conversation with the doctor and feel at peace about the schedule we're on now. of course, we're anxious as ever to meet her and hold her, but we feel like we're making the right decisions now.

we'll try and post some highlights from today's ultrasound soon...

marching on.

well, this morning was hard.

the non-stress test was fine. i was having contractions 5 minutes apart, and the baby was reacting properly with good heart rates. my exam, however, was less reassuring. there has been no change in my cervix...so that makes 4 weeks i've been at 1 cm, 75% effaced, -1 station. i really wasn't expecting it to have changed. but the fact that it hasn't changed begins to limit our options.

since our appointment last tuesday, derek and i have been debating induction...by means of breaking my water, not by means of pitocin. the dr. had brought it up as an option last week and when we went to the appointment this morning, we had decided to tell him we'd like to do it on thursday, the 15th. but because i am still only 1cm, the doctor advised against it. he doesn't think it will put me into labor, and that we will end up risking infection to the baby and likely have to have pitocin to get her out.

so we're running out of time.

we can only be in family beginnings thru sunday. if we go past sunday, we lose that option, and lose the birthing tub and the queen sized bed. what's more, if we go past sunday, we are entering into pitocin territory. natural birth would be more difficult in the regular l&d, but still doable...but with pitocin, i hold little to no hope for avoiding an epidural and episiotomy -- the evil Es.

i think this is the hardest thing to deal with right now.

obviously, if we go past sunday, we are in a position where we need to be thinking about baby girl rund's safety...we also need to think about how long we can let her sit in there without doing something about it, because the longer we wait, the more we increase our risk of c-section.

i have to say, this is the most stressed i've been during this entire process. i just don't have a clear grasp on what's best right now. obviously, up to a point, it's best if she comes on her own. but where is that line of safety?

we don't know. and we have at least a few more days to mull it over.

on thursday we are scheduled for an ultrasound to check the amniotic fluid, and then we'll have a dr. appt as well. we'll just have to see the results of the ultrasound and the doctor's exam and go from there.

at this point, i still say being late and still being pregnant doesn't bother me. what bothers me is not knowing when she's coming...and now, not knowing what's best for her. there will come a day, very soon, when we'll have to make a difficult choice. i just hope that she makes that choice for us before we get there.

Sunday, May 11, 2008

that's insulting!

the baby is gone from the little calendar thingy!!! does no one ever go one week past their due date??? must we assume that all babies have exited the womb after 41 weeks??? preposterous!!!

i'm starting a letter-writing campaign. probably not, actually, but still. don't want anyone to get the wrong idea...the baby is still in the womb. we'll do our best to post when we are heading to the hospital so people will know :)

turkey on wheat with tortured tongue.

ok, so derek and i had this fun evening planned. we were going to go see 'ironman' at the greene and have dinner at potbelly beforehand.

so we picked up our tickets for 'ironman' and walked to potbelly...derek got an italian sandwich, i got my usual, the turkey on wheat.

about 3/4 of the way through my sandwich, my tongue hurt. so i tried reaching in my mouth to pull out ... well, who knows what. not sure what i thought was hurting my tongue, but when i found it, i discovered it wasn't just floating around my mouth. it was stuck in my tongue.

derek looked at me funny as i kept reaching in my mouth while also trying to delicately chew and swallow the food in my mouth. i moved to his side of the table and said i had something stuck in my tongue, could he get it out please. well, he found it, and tried to pull it out, but it wouldn't budge. so he went and got the manager, they refunded our dinner, and took our name and address for insurance purposes.

then he ran back to the parking garage on the other side of the greene and stopped in the movie theatre to get a refund for our tickets ('i have to take my wife to the ER, can i get a refund please?'). and off we went to the ER.

we went to the new emergency center that's a half mile from our condo. man, it's nice in there. it's like an upscale hotel lobby rather than an ER waiting room, and derek made a comment how odd someone might feel with a finger half severed by a table saw, waiting there in the leather chairs with blood dripping from a rag on his hand. nice, derek. but he's right, it's way too upscale for bloody emergencies.

anyway, they took us back to triage, got all my info up to date and the physician's assistant came in and pulled the thing out of my tongue. it's about 3/8ths of an inch long in total, and about half of it was stuck in my tongue. it looked kind of like a thorn, and was sharp as a needle on the end that impaled me. anyway, we saved it for the people at potbelly. i'll probably take a picture of it too.

so then all the nurses came in to see what they pulled out of my tongue, and the triage nurse who checked me in made some comments that when they called back to let them know there was a patient waiting in the lobby, they all freaked out because they heard i was pregnant and they were nervous i was in labor or something. don't i wish. apparently, me being pregnant got us the biggest, nicest room in the ER, and lots of extra attention.

we were only there about an hour all total, and, you know, it was nice to see the new facility. i'd rather not have had my tongue impaled, but what're you gonna do. so now we wait for the ER bill and take it to potbelly so they can pay us...and maybe give us some gift certificates or something, because, i do love potbelly. and even if i can't bring myself to eat their sandwiches for a while, they have great shakes and cookies. mmmm....ice cream.

Happy Feet

so derek is having some crazy fun with iMovie today...which is why you finally got the ultrasound below...and why you're also getting this little gem. enjoy.

the ultrasound!

ok, so this is a little overdue (like oh, say 20 weeks or so)...but here is the video of the ultrasound we had in december. just a little something to distract us all while we wait........and wait........and........wait.

tick, tock.

time doesn't so much march on lately as it does drag itself across the floor by the fingernails. i think this past week has been the absolute slowest of my life. thank God for the beautiful weather we've been having, though, because otherwise i have no idea what sort of mental state i'd be in.

as for news from the doctor, there isn't any. i am STILL 1cm dilated, 75% effaced. absolutely nothing has changed. well, they think i have a urinary tract infection, but other than that, nothing has changed.

we've scheduled my next appointment and if i make it that long, they'll do a non-stress test to make sure the baby is doing alright. if they get any questionable results from that test, they will schedule me for an ultrasound to check some additional things, like making sure the amniotic fluid level is sufficient.

i am really frustrated. not because i'm past my due date, but because i've been at the same dilation/effacement for so long without any progress. i'm a bit frustrated with my body right now, that it's seemingly at a standstill and not working toward getting this little girl out into the world. some moments, i feel at my absolute wits' end...mostly i'm just insanely bored and impatient. i'm fairly determined, though, to let her come on her own time. i just hope that time is very soon.

Monday, May 5, 2008

i may have an enlarged prostate.

i'm sure you've all seen the commercials. avodart, flomax, etc. so as it turns out, i have all the symptoms! look:

* Feeling the need to urinate frequently
* Difficulty starting to urinate
* Difficulty emptying your bladder completely, and because of this, urine may dribble after you are done
* The stream of your urine is weak and may start and stop
* Urinating two or more times in the middle of the night
* Sudden strong urges to urinate
* Urinary issues get in the way of daily life

holy cow! we'll definitely have to bring this up to the doctor at our checkup tomorrow.

d-day came and went.

well, the doctor's due date was yesterday...and it came and went with no baby. (all apologies to my sister sonja, whose birthday happened to be yesterday and who was convinced that she would be born last night)

we did have some new contractions and pain yesterday, but they only lasted a few hour as opposed to the apparently customary 16 hours of hopes-raising contractions that go nowhere.

so now we're focusing on plan b -- due date of thursday, which is based on my actual ovulation date, rather than the pregnancy wheel. so i'm telling myself that she's not late, her due date just hasn't arrived yet.

that said, we're no more patient or content than we were...i'm sure we're even less so.

i'm anxious for the doctor's appointment tomorrow, and it's really hard for me to believe it's only been a week since the last one. the days are really dragging now.....

is it friday already?

i can't believe this entire week has gone by already. what i really can't believe is that the due date is two days away. and derek and i are climbing the walls (along with the squirrels who have taken up lodging in our attic).

i had some pain and contractions last night starting around 9.30, and noticed them whenever i woke up...but again, nothing happens.

and honestly, beyond that, i have nothing to say. because there is no news, and there is nothing going on.
